ch ch ch changesssssss....

Hey all, it's {SS} here...

I'm sorry about the lack of posts lately. I've been beyond busy, as has {kh}!! I've wanted to post but it just hasn't happened.

And I've been thinking... there is sometimes a lot I want to say, or write about, but it doesn't quite fit the style blog vibe. It's hard to think about {style} some days when I'm running from school, to job, to other job, to home... I may put together a stylish outfit one day but simply not have a chance to photograph or post about it.

Other days I have the urge to write about a past memory, an experience I had recently or something going on in my life... none of which neccasarily has to do with style or fashion. Don't get me wrong, I love style and fashion, but writing a fashion blog in a world full of other fashion bloggers who have a lot more time and energy to devote to their blogs is hard. It's not that I feel I (or we) have to be at the same level as those bloggers, it's just something to think about.

So here are where the changes come in... I'm going to take a little break from MNSB. That's not to say I'll never post, but I'm not going to worry about posting a certain amount or at a certain time or on a certain subject. When something comes to me that fits the parameters of the blog, I'm going to post it. And who knows, maybe I'll decide I really miss MNSB and be back posting all the time. But for now, I'm taking a break...

... but I still want to write. Yet I don't want to be confined to writing about style and fashion. Also, {kh} and I created this blog together... it's our project and I wouldn't feel comfortable turning posting randomly about life and things not particularly pertaining to style. So, in a few weeks, I'll be launching my own blog: The Intellectual Fashionista: part fashion, part intellect, or something like that. It's not going to make any promises to be a certain kind of blog but will mainly be a springboard for my writing, about all different kinds of things, photography too. But like I said, I'll still be posting here when I can, and I'm sure there will be plenty of stylish posting going on over there too.

I'm not ready to launch the new blog yet, but will certainly let you all know when it is up and ready to go!!

My {New} Hair Style Part II

Happy Friday friends! It's {SS} here-

So on Wednesday I headed to Haven Salon in Uptown for a big hair makeover. It was definitely time.  When I got home, I shared some before and during pictures and today I'm finally sharing the after photos :)

Also, today is the third day of the new 'do and I have mixed feelings... 

On Day 1: I loved it; On Day 2: I hated it; On Day 3 (today): I just like it...

I will note however, that I've been pretty lazy the last two days and except for a little bang shaping (bangs this short are a new thing for me!) this morning (stay tuned for the SWEET trick I learned about that), I've put pretty much zero effort into my hair. So, with time, effort, and a bit of color fading, I hope know that I will grow to love it :)  

This lovely lady from the Boden catalog/website was my inspiration.

I didn't want to go quite as short (but now think maybe I should have?) but otherwise we pretty much tried to replicate this look... I'm even thinking of buying that shirt!

Here you can see the color... I opted out of my usual balyage for a shiny, dark all over reddish (the boys I nanny for say, "it's not red, it's purple-brown"). 

So, I think it works, or at least can work, right?! I bet if I try hard enough I can even make it look like the model... (her name is Helena by the way... I only know that because Boden lists the names of their models in the catalogs which I love!). 

I can't believe this is me... I can't quite get used to it!! Ah!!!

Also, she dyed my eyebrows to match which I was a bit resistant to do but actually am loving... I haven't had to pencil them in for 2 days!!! Wahoo!!!

My New {Hair} Style Part I

{SS} here!

Today I embarked on a journey to Haven Salon in Uptown where the awesome Brianna gave me an amazing new hairstyle... It was long overdue.

In an attempt at full blogging disclosure, I've decided to share some pretty icky "before" photos with you, so you can see why my hair was in some serious need of help...

For the past month or so, I've been almost constantly wearing my naturally curly, dried out and color faded hair like this...

You can see here how dry and frizzy it was. Despite trying to wear it curly (I'll spare you the photos I took of that...) or straighten it (ugh, humidity?!), it just tended to end up hidden in a bun with a headband because it was the easiest...





I was ready for something new... and this morning I found it in the pages of the Boden Catalog!
