{ Denver Art Museum }

I'm off to my first graduate course in a bit here... but wanted to show you some pictures of my fabulous trip to Denver last weekend...

While in Denver, the bf and I headed to the renowned Denver Art Museum (where it happened to be the free first Saturday of the month- score!). There just so happened to be an awesome interactive Fashion exhibition that we enjoyed spending time in.

Before heading inside... we were blown away by the outdoor art, including this awesome broom and dust pan.

The Fashion Studio was totally awesome!

I loved being able to draw some clothing designs...  the bf made a great looking men's suit and I chose to draw a formal women's gown.














I'm sad we didn't have a chance to construct our pieces because it was so busy, but it was cool to see other peoples!

{Flash} Me?

Let's talk for a minute about flashing. Yeah... that's right, flashing. I'm thinking of incorporating it into {mynewstyle}, you know as a, "I'm stylish through and through" type of thing...

What do you think?

Okay, okay, I'm obviously kidding. I'm actually talking about flash sales sites. Websites where a single item is offered at a deeply discounted price for a short period of time (usually 24-48 hours). These sites  usually require you to be member, which sometimes is as easy as just joining, and other times requires you to get an invitation.

So, after reading {kh}'s post yesterday about store credit cards, I thought I'd follow up and talk a bit about flash sale sites, which have become super popular in the fashion world.

Let me start out by saying, I have never purchased anything from a flash sale site, however, I have had a number of friends who have both successfully and unsuccessfully ordered things from sites such as: Rue La La, Gilt, Hautelook and Ideeli.

Now if you love these sites, I'd love to hear about it, but here's why I don't, or at least haven't yet, utilize these sites:

• They take too much time: In order to get the "best" deals on these sites, you have to be checking them and reading the e-mails they send out daily, something that I just don't like to do. 

• They aren't always the best deals: Often these sites tack on high shipping fees which raise the price, and better deals can be found on sites like Zappos which always offers free shipping (and returns). 

• They make returns hard: These sites often don't allow returns, only give site credit for returns, or charge hefty fees for returns.

• They require you to make impulse decisions and are too tempting: Often times on these sites the daily deal is something that I don't need or even want, but upon seeing it I began to think that I should have it because it's such a good price for such a good brand or whatever. I have enough issues as it is with shopping, so certainly don't something like this to tempt me into making an impulse purchase.  

• They require instant commitment: I'm a bit of a commitment phobe-- I can't tell you how many times I walk through the whole store carrying something I intend to purchase, only to decide against it at the last minute as I'm checking out. I like to have the option of being able to think about something for a while- go home and figure out if it's something that I really need AND that I really can afford. With flash sale sites if you don't make the purchase right away, you miss out on the "deal".

{SS's} Thoughts 

{1} I love these J. Crew tanks... I wear them as sleep shirts, undershirts and even regular shirts when it gets really hot. They're stretchy but hold their shape and are much more flattering than a lot of A-Line tanks are. 

{2} I am turning into a one-piece junkie. I adore this suit and loved wearing it in France. It's a liberty of london print which makes it super unique and I love the ruching and neckline. 

{3} I don't have these exact shorts but check out my new ones here. From a girl who didn't used to wear shorts... I have become obsessed!

{4} These were my awesome Amsterdam purchase. I was thrilled to get them for much less than I would have paid here. They are super comfortable and I think that they are "cute" (I mean as far as Birkenstocks go...). 

{5} Mine are just Old Navy ones but I do think the Havaiaanas are cute. I don't like wearing flip flops that much but I slip mine on for quick trips, when I'm watering the yard, and when I want to wear shoes around the house.
{6} These Marc Jacobs studs sure are cute but mine are just simple Forever 21 ones :)

{7} My hat is actually from J. Crew and it's the third one I've owned... the first was left in the rain, the second was gifted to someone in France and the third is my go-to for bad hair days or to spruce up an outfit and add some fun summer style!

{8} Eyelash curlers really DO make a big difference. I also have a new mascara that I'm excited about... and believe it or not it's Maybelline. 

{9} I really can't leave home without eyeliner... I try and I try and then I always come back and swipe some on. My summer color thus far has been "Blooz". I am a big Prunella lover as well. 

{10} I don't have this cover but I do love my MacBook. I also am a fan of my Kindle Fire which I can slip in my purse. 

{11} I use this MAC Soft & Gentle finishing powder over a bit of tinted moisturizer or BB cream, to add a hint of sheen to my face without too much coverage. 

{12} This is not the June Jacobs product I use, but the only photo I could find... I am a huge fan of June Jacobs Pumpkin Scrub which I got as a sample. I use it after I've cleaned my face and it feels good, smells good and makes my face silky smooth.

Tomboy {first time using Polyvore}

Sorry this post looks a little crazy. This is my first time using Polyvore and, I must admit, I am a bit confused.

Anyhow, I wanted to share about a current obsession of mine:

Gap Sexy Boyfriend Jeans

They are absolutely perfect. I once wore a pair of my {ex}-boyfriend's jeans and they were so comfortable. He had worn them in perfectly from raw denim and they had whiskering and holes in all of the right places. I wanted a pair of my own! I found a pair of raw denim at a thrift store and was excited to break them...until I realized how long it took {years...and wearing them in the tub and saltwater}. Patience is not my strong suit so I soon re-sold these jeans. Plus one calf was smaller than the other {or one of my calves is significantly bigger than the other?} and it drove me nuts. 

I was a little sad. How was I going to get those perfect, worn-in jeans I wanted?

{dramatic noise!}

Enter these jeans. They fit like a pair of your boyfriend's jeans but cut for a lady. They are the perfect amount of loose without looking like a pair of 1990s JNco jeans. They have a button fly but the rise is appropriate to a woman's body {yay! no saggy crotch!}. I can't rave enough about them.

You see, I am a bit of a tomboy at heart. Sure, I like getting dressed up but I am more likely to throw on a pair of jeans and a tank {not the one in the picture- it's only cotton for sakes!}, sandals, a top knot, and some laid back accessories. I like to be comfortable. Now don't get me wrong, my high-waisted skinny jeans are fabulous. I put them on when I am feeling sassy and like showing off my behind. But I don't feel that way everyday. So to have these jeans as my second go-tos is some higher power work.

If you haven't tried them yet, I {clearly} recommend them! And the price point is reasonable. I will be going back for more!

{and maybe I will find a sexy boyfriend of my own whose jeans I can throw on from time to time.. ;)}
