Denver {SNEAK} Peak

Happy Labor Day... I guess this means I {SS} have to put my white jeans away :( I actually brought them on my trip and started wearing them one day but had to go back to the hotel to put on shorts because it was just too hot!!

Anyways, 

I'm home and I honestly could not have had a more perfect time in {DENVER}. What a great city! I could totally see myself living there... somewhere down the line...

Though the bf and I were only there from Friday morning to this morning, we packed so much in... baseball game, some great walks, "Taste of Colorado", Museums,  good food, a GORGEOUS wedding, a dip in the hotel pool and even some good 'ol relaxin (I finished a really great book!)...

I have some super {stylish} photos and stories to share with you in the next few days...

Friday night the {BF} and I had a lovely dinner on the patio at W.A. Frost's in Saint Paul... the perfect summer date night spot. It was so nice to just sit and chat and relax while we enjoyed some fine Saint Paul people watching.







Saturday morning I went to a bridal shower for a good friend who is getting married in a few weeks in CO (I just bought my tickets, and I can't wait!!) which was fun!

And last night, on Stella's rooftop in Uptown I sat with the {BF} and four of our closest friends and enjoyed good conversations, good appetizers and some 

I am so lucky to have such wonderful and STYLISH friends :)

Being stylish starts within yourself, but I know that the love and support from my friends and family help keep my smile big and my style shining!

Tourist at Home

Last night I (SS) accompanied my brother and his lovely girlfriend, Jenna (from Portland, OR) on a mini-tour of some of the great Minneapolis lakes (it's her first time in the midwest!). Walking around Lake Harriet, I began to reflect on how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place. I started snapping photographs and felt like a tourist in my own city (well, neighbor city...). It was actually a wonderful feeling.

Though most of the people I saw around the lake were dressed for working out, I, who don't do much of that (I know, I know) instead chose to brainstorm ideas of breezy summer ensembles I'd love to wear for a picnic near the water... maybe something like this?

I have a few of these things, or at least similar styles, so I'll try to put this together the next time I head to one of the 10,000+ lakes we have here in the great state of Minnesota.

Marseille & Aix-En-Provence

{SS} here... BEWARE photo heavy post ahead!! :) 

While in France, I was lucky enough to get a day tour of the city of Marseille from a Marseille native. It is a large city and a bit dirty and sketchy in some areas but I really liked it. We were staying in a house not far from Aix-En-Provence so we spent a Saturday morning enjoying the market, doing a bit of shopping and a having a nice lunch.  Here are some of my favorite photos:

Amsterdam Favorites

{SS} here and now that I'm back from my Mini-Europe tour I have lots to share with you. I spent the first week of my trip in Amsterdam -- a mighty Stylish city!  A few of my favorite things in Amsterdam were, the Cafe's throughout the city, Flowers, Street Markets, Seeing all the Bicyclists and the Canals. 

{ Cafe's }

Amsterdam is full of street cafe's (something I have found fairly common in many European cities). On our first morning as we set off in search of some breakfast, we stumbled upon a sweet little cafe that we ended up going to almost every morning. We also found several others which proved to be the perfect spots to stop for a quick afternoon refreshment, break and a bit of people watching.

We found this sweet little cafe tucked into a neighborhood behind our apartment. It was the perfect spot for a quick meal and lots of people watching!

{ Flowers }

Amsterdam is known for it's extraordinary tulips and other bright blooms and there is certainly no shortage of flowers in the city... window boxes boast sweet arrangements, the canals have flowers planted in boxes on their bridges and street markets are full of gorgeous bouquets and seeds for purchase. 

{ Street Markets }

Just a few blocks from the apartment we were staying at was the Albert Cuyp Street market- the largest street market in Amsterdam. It was a long row of booths selling all kinds of things from cheese and meats, to vacuum cleaner parts, to clothes and shoes, and fresh flowers. Had I had a bigger suitcase I am sure that I would have come home with much more from the market, but was happy to score a pair of Birkenstock sandals for a great price. We also bought lots of meats and cheeses to make sandwiches in our apartment. 

{ Bicycles }

I have never been somewhere so full of bicyclists, especially so many beautifully dressed ones! Because Amsterdam is so flat people bike everywhere and aren't afraid to wear dresses and heels as they pedal. On any given street you can find hundreds of bikes parked. As a pedestrian walking through the city you not only have to look out for cars but also bicyclists who prove to be just as much of a threat as cars! 

{ Canals }

Due to the fact that it has over 90km of Canals, Amsterdam is called the "Venice of the North". Canals line the city beautifully. 

This stylish couple was enjoying a sunny Sunday afternoon floating down a canal with their champagne and newspaper... totally my style :)

San Francisco Style

After walking through the Pride Celebration at City Center in San Francisco on Sunday, my {hip} dad, {BS-- no joke} and I headed to Hayes Street to check out some boutiques. Though things were a bit above our price range, we enjoyed looking at pretty things and great displays. It turns out {BS} is a great shopping and style companion!
